Celebrating RAA’s most loyal members

Fred Bonser joined RAA in 1949. At the time, the club was less than 50 years old and had just reached a milestone of having 50,000 members.   Now, 70 years later, Fred is still an RAA member, along with another 740,000 South Australians.   The 90-year-old was among 200 of RAA’s most loyal members who attended our recent Morphett Vale Gold 50 appreciation morning tea, hosted by RAA President and Chairman of the Board, Elizabeth Perry. Gold 50 events celebrate the members who’ve stuck with RAA for 50 years or more.   Fred, who’s been with the RAA since January 1949, joined while he was living in Broken Hill. Since then, Fred has called the RAA for help on approximately 25 occasions. “I haven’t had to call them very often, but I’ve appreciated the help they’ve offered,” Fred says.

While I had my wife’s car, the battery conked out and the RAA switched it over.

I’ve also called RAA a few times because I’ve locked my keys in my car.”   Gold 50 events, which have been held across the state in metropolitan locations and regional centres for the past 6 years, provide RAA an opportunity to honour its most loyal members. The events include tailored RAA Gold 50 presentations, providing information on road safety and RAA’s history. They also allow members to find out more about the products and services that come with their RAA membership.
