Despite dropping to second position, Adelaide recorded 1471 more mobile speeding fines in 2020 than it did in 2018, when RAA first reviewed data. In fact, statistics from SA Police show an alarming increase in mobile speeding fines. A total of 116,115 offences were recorded across all suburbs in 2020. Total mobile speeding fines per year

The concerning increase in mobile speeding fines in 2020 compared to previous years prompted RAA Senior Manager of Safety and Infrastructure Charles Mountain to remind motorists that by speeding, they’re not only risking a fine, but also their lives, and those of other road users. “Research shows speed continues to be a major contributing factor to serious and fatal crashes,” Mr Mountain said.
“Even small increases in speed mean you travel a longer distance before you react, combined with a longer stopping distance.
“Many drivers don’t realise even a small increase in speed puts lives at risk. In fact, your crash risk doubles for every 5km/h over the limit you go on a 60km/h road,” he warned.     Array|Array|Array|Array|Array
